Home Builder Grant Extended – Include a Lift

Home Builder Extended

Now is the ideal time to contact LiftDesign to include a lift with your home renovations or your new home build. There are a number of grants available to Western Australians looking to renovate or build a new home. The Home Builder Grant has just extended the application deadline from 31st December 2020 to the 14th April 2021 making it the perfect time to get a new or retrofit lift installed.

There are many reasons why you might want to install a lift in your existing or new home and you can read “5 Ways a Lift in Your Home Can Benefit You” to find out more. A lift from liftDesign represents great value, but it is a significant investment and the Home Builder Grants available to WA residents can dramatically reduce the overall cost.

What Home Building Grants are Available to WA Residents ?

HomeBuilder Grant – $25,000 / $15000

“HomeBuilder provides eligible owner-occupiers (including first home buyers) with a grant of $25,000 to build a new home or substantially renovate an existing home.”

The Home Builder Grant has two expiry phases. The first phase which provides grants of up to $25,000 requires applications be submitted by the 31st December 2020. The next phase, providing $15,000 grants, places the application deadline on the 14th April, 2021.

Information on how to apply along with relevant fact sheets can be found on the Australian Government Treasury website. This grant is available for both new home build as well as renovations to existing homes.

Building Bonus Grant – $20,000

“Building Bonus grants are available for people who enter into a contract to build a new home on vacant land or purchase a new home being constructed under a single-tier development on a strata plan or other land survey type.”

Applications for the Building Bonus Grant currently must be in by the 31st December 2020. Application forms and further information are available on the wa.gov.au website. This grant is available for new home builds only.

First Home Owners Grant – $10,000

“The first home owner grant (FHOG) is a one-off payment to assist first home buyers to buy or build a residential property for use as their principal place of residence.”

Information and applications are also available on the wa.gov.au website and are for new home builds.

While it is good that the Home Builder Grant has been extended, there is still a greater incentive for West Australians to get their applications in by the 31st December 2020 deadline. The home building grants make it possible to receive incentives of up to $25,000 for renovations or $45,000 on a new home with an additional $10,000 if it is your first home. This provides first home buyers with an astounding $55,000 of potential grant funding for their first home.
